You are invited to adopt one of our Dartmoor Pony Foals or Adult Ponies. Your contribution will help towards the costs of our charity, which provides the general public with education, awareness and information on the special heritage of the indigenous Dartmoor Pony and support for the wild native Dartmoor Pony gene pool. The adoption fee is £16 for one year for UK adopters and £20 for one year for overseas adopters and you will receive details of the foal/pony you decide to adopt, together with a beautiful drawing and an adoption certificate. An adoption makes an ideal anniversary, birthday or Christmas gift. Although you are adopting for one year, we hope you will renew your adoption when that year is up so you can continue to watch the progress of your chosen pony. The centre is open every day but is only manned on Sunday afternoons during the summer (April-October) between 1.30pm - 4.00pm. The centre is at Brimpts Farm, Dartmeet. Please be aware that the DPHT Adoption ponies are involved in our Education Programme and are used throughout the week in this work so may not always be at the Centre. However, the ponies are at Brimpts Farm every Sunday from 1.30pm to 4pm during the summer, when our centre managers Joy and Andy Taylor will be happy to show you around and introduce you to your pony. We will provide periodic updates on the ponies' progress here. You can ADOPT ONLINE. Please click here to view the adoption form for completion. However, if you choose to adopt online, please note that we are currently (October 2009) experiencing difficulties with PayPal online payments so you can fill in the online form but will need to send in a cheque as payment, so you may prefer to use the download option described below. We aim to have the online payment situation rectified as soon as possible.
You can also DOWNLOAD the adoption leaflet or form, print it out, complete it in the normal way and post it into us.

Every effort is made to turn gift-packs round quickly, but please allow up to 28 days for your pack to be processed. The four ponies currently available for adoption are shown below.Their names were chosen by readers of the Western Morning News and the Mid-Devon Advertiser. He is a very handsome gelding, with a bright bay coat and striking black mane and tail. George is calm and friendly, and although still young; he has experienced a huge amount. He will continue to work with young people with disabilities and children on school visits. George is a half-brother to Starlight. He is a young gelding and is going to be our biggest pony. He is incredibly inquisitive and friendly always being the first to run across the field to greet us in the morning. Although bay in colour, he is very dark. He has a small white mark on his upper lip. No matter how we try he always has a ‘bad hair day’. She is an eight year old bay mare, with a very kind and gentle nature. She is trained as a pack pony and carries equipment on our expeditions and guided walks. Flame, as she is known, is the herd leader and acts as aunty to all the younger ponies in the adoption herd keeping them all in line. A wonderful ambassadress for the Dartmoor Heritage Pony. He is our youngest pony and is a beautiful liver chestnut in colour. He has developed into a friendly and trustworthy young gelding. He is learning voice commands and responds well to schooling. His behaviour is impeccable when we take him to events and he adores attention and meeting people. A wonderful Heritage Pony. |
