DRU INTRODUCES GOLDEN FLAME TO HER FIRST GOAT

DRU INTRODUCES GOLDEN FLAME TO HER FIRST GOAT

The snowdrops are out but there is no sign of the daffodils flowering yet and every now and then there is a suggestion of sun. The paddocks are in an awful mess thanks to the rain but they do dry out quite quickly. At least, I hope they do, I have got a lot of work to do to get them ready for spring visitors. Charlie has been to “Playschool” and has come home a different pony. Of course George was pleased to see him and they are side by side again. It is as if Charlie has been fitted with power steering, he can now be led by fingertips instead of dragging him along. This all goes to show that neither of us really knew what the other needed. We do now and it is an incredible feeling walking with an animal that wants to be with you.

Golden Flame and Boss have had a good grooming session and look super. Flame could do with losing a few pounds but Boss is probably at his best fighting weight. Rolo is in good condition and has wintered well along with Smartie (Miss Mousie) who is disputing the bottom rung of the pecking order with Rolo. Neither gains any ground so they will just have to wait until we have another recruit.

George has maintained his condition over winter and will look a stunner in his summer coat, he has filled our nicely and both he and Charlie are ready for some more challenging work. Maybe some harness work with some light field tools. They already accept weight across their backs and have the size and strength to help earn a crust. The ponies have all come through the winter very well and are being prepared for the arrival of the school groups. Surely the better weather is not that far away now!
